Problem:
A scrambler carnival ride has three Y-shaped arms from the center with length of 12 ft each. And four arms branched from each of the main arm and the branched arm has length of 8 feet each. (Summary: main arms: 3 and has 12 feet length each ; branched arms from each main arm: 4 per main arm and have 8 feet length each.)
For the long arms =12ft -- 1 revolution / 5 secs
For the short arms = 8ft -- 1 revolution / 3 secs
Now, I want to know what’s the acceleration will be if we double the speed.
If we double the speed:
For the long arms =12ft -- 1 revolution / 2.5 secs
For the short arms = 8ft -- 1 revolution / 1.5 secs
Speed, V = R * W (1)
where W is angular speed
W = 2 * pi * f (2)
where f is frequency
from equation (1) and (2)
we have V = R * 2* pi * f
f = V / ( 2 * pi* R) .......(3)
from equation (3) it is clear that frequency f is proportional to speed V. It means if we double the speed, frequency will also get doubled.
AFTER DOUBLING THE SPEED
Now, For 12 feet arms, F = 2* f = 2* 1 revolution / 5
F = 1 revolutions / 2.5
Similarly for 8 feet arms,F = 2* f = 2*1 revolution / 3
F = 1 revolution / 1.5
where F is the new frequency after doubling the speed
