What is the forcing term in models of the Earth's climate System
The forcing term in relation to earth's climate system is radiative forcing or climate forcing. It ia the difference between the amount of insolation(sunlight) absorbed by earth and the the amount it radiated back to space. If the amount of sunlight absorbed by earth is more ,then their occurs positive climate forcing.Positive climate forcing creates warming and it will warm the earth. If the amount of sunlight radiated back to space is more than that it is receiving then their occurs negative climate forcing.Negative climate forcing cools down earth. If their is thermal equilibrium then radiative forcing is zero.
