Polarized light is incident on three polarizing filters in a row. The initial intensity of the light is 4 W/m^2. The first filter is aligned vertically, the second at an angle of 45 degrees from vertical, and the third at an angle of 90 degrees from vertical. Afterwards the intensity is 0.5 W/m^2. At what angle relative to the vertical was the light initially polarized (give your answer as an angle between 0 and 90 degrees)?

Three polarizing filters are stacked, with the polarizing axis of the second and third filters at 21.0° and 63.0°, respectively, to that of the first. If unpolarized light is incident on the stack, the light has intensity 78.0 W/cm2 after it passes through the stack. If the incident intensity is kept constant, what is the intensity of the light after it has passed through the stack if the second polarizer is removed?
