3) What is “resonance”? How will we know when we are at resonance in this experiment? Give another example of a resonance phenomenon.
Resonance :- It is particular case of forced oscillation in which frequency of the driving force is equal to the natural frequency of the oscillator itself and the amplitude of oscillation is very large. Such oscillations are called resonant oscillation and this phenomenon is called resonance.
Examples 1. An aircraft passing near a building shatters its window panes.
2. The air column in a resonance tube produces large sound when frequency matches the frequency of the tuning fork.
