You are being considered for the position of the new team leader of an important ongoing project at your place of employment. However, this opportunity comes at a time when large scale changes are occurring within the organization. Not many of the changes are perceived as positive by the employee base. By the time all of the changes take place, the organization will be operating quite differently. In a wonderful stroke of good fortune, you end up eating lunch next to a senior member of the organization. This is your chance to make sure this senior member recognizes you can handle the management of a team at a time of great change in the organization. Casually, you offer examples of how adaptable to change you can be.

Instructions: In your own words and using knowledge you gained from the adaptability, communicate multiple ways that you would be the best candidate for the position.

Answer #1

The level of competition today in the world of business is very high and organizations as well as employees are experiencing the heat of competition every now and then hence both the organization and the employees need to take advantage of any situation that comes their way because an opportunity lost will mean that the opportunity goes to a competitor. As mentioned here that I have been considered for the position of the new team leader in the organization in an important project but the challenge is that at present the organization is going through a phase of transition and the changes are are not perceived to be positive by most of the employees and also the operation and fucntions of the organization will changes after the transition is complete. There along with preparing for th new role I also have to be adapting with the new processes of the organization which is difficult and the chnages are actually unknown to me.

I feel that I possess the ability to adapt and that too at quite an extent because I have been with the organization for more than 6 years and has always been flexible with the needs of the organization along with the changes the organization has went through as well. I have worked as a consultant in more than one projects and have been adaptable to the changing nature and processes of each and every project. I belive that I know the team well because I have been working with them for around 20 months and know each and every one of them for quite sometime and I feel that I would be able to fit in the role of the team leader of this team and drive this team to success. I have thought about it and I feel that because of my adapting nature I will be more successful because this team works in a methodology that is all about changing requirements and adapting to the change and for that the leader needs to be adapting. Initially challenges will be there and that is normal but I believe that I can cope with the changing situation and do good and grow as a leader in teh organization.
