Answer #1

Yes, employment at will is still applicable in the American Workplace. However, there are some exceptions like government employees and members of trade unions.

Firing an employee without a reason is not fair. So, the companies should not be allowed to terminate a person's employment without reason.

There are many reasons against employment-at-will.

  • Managers may fire an employee just because they do not like them or because of their prejucdices against a certain type of people.
  • Firing without any reason is nothing but being unfair to the employees who give their best to make the company profitable.
  • Employees tend to work without flexibility and freedom as they may always fear of getting fired at any time. This will reduce their productivity.
  • Lives of innocent employees fall into chaos just because of the whims of the top management

However, one positive consequence can be that the fired employees may find better jobs with much better pay and culture.

Topic: Section 103 of the Employment Relations Act (ERA) 2000 contains a provision against employees being unjustifiably dismissed. As former Chief Judge of the Employment Court Tom Goddard pointed out, dismissals may comply fully with the terms of the employment agreement but nevertheless be ‘unjustified’ because they are unfair or unreasonable. Employers frequently ask, though, why New Zealand should have the concept of ‘unjustified dismissal’ at all. In family law, for instance, we have moved away from ‘divorce for cause’...

They should attempt to forecast the net cash flows in each currency due to unanticipated transactions based on the previous net cash flows for that currency in a previous period. Even though it would be impossible to forecast the volume of these unanticipated transactions per day, it may be possible to forecast the volume on a monthly basis. For example, if an...
