Interview:
Interview is defined as a “one to one” conversation or “one to many” conversation being carried out where generally questions are asked by one side and answers are given by other side. The purpose of these interviews is to understand/know/assess the subject issue/person with appropriate details.
Generally job interviews are very famous and being carried out for assessment of the applicant/candidate for his suitability for the organization.
Brief description of each of the following interview types is as below
Situational
Interview: Situational Interview is the assessment of the
candidate in situation management. This is an interview technique
in which a candidate is placed in a conflict or problematic
situations, where the candidate needs to assess, analyze and make
appropriate decisions. Thus this interview is carried out for
assessment of candidate’s capability in terms situation assessment
and decision making approach.
Behavior
Interview: This is an interview in which the behavior of
the candidate is to be assessed. In this interview the interviewers
want to assess the behavior of the candidate, so for that they will
want to ask question which can describe the behavior of the
candidate. Like explain how you managed the case, how you handled
the situation. How did you performed in you last role etc. In this
interview the interviewer interested in understanding the actual
behavior demonstrated by the candidate in past
organization.
Stress Interview: Stress interview is generally carried out when the candidate is hired for a high stress working environment like sale, stock broker, customer service, warranty settlements etc.
The purpose of this stress interview is to assess the
candidate’s capability towards stress management. In this interview
many questions are asked in stress ways. So candidate to focus on
question and not on the manner the question is asked. The
interviewers are generally focusing for stress assessment and not
knowledge on the question. The interviewer may put in comfortable
situations and want to assess the response of candidate in stress
situation.
Structural Interview: Structured interview is the interview typically formal and well organized interview carried out for the candidate assessment. In this interview there may have many interviewers just like a panel interview.
This interview will start in a very formal manner. The Interviewer may ask you icebreaking question so that the candidate become comfortable in the interview. Then later they will have multiple question of education, qualification, experience, achievements, etc.
Finally the interview panel may ask the candidate if the candidate has any question for the interviewers, so that they can reply to candidate.
Panel
Interview: Panel interview is the interview in which many
interviewers are available to finalize the candidate. The panel
interview ill have multiple interviewers and they will ask
questions based on their interests. In panel interview, the
candidate needs to take note of the name of each interviewer person
and refer to them by their name. The keep focus to the person who
has asked you question along with eye contact with the entire
person time to time.
