Homework Answers

Answer #1

Split sentencing is a method of sentencing where half the sentence for juvenile is adult sentencing. Court on the basis of age of juvenile , history of criminal records , and nature of offense decides whether juvenile has to be tried as an adult for some period or not.

As per a report of 2012 , more than 2000 juveniles are serving sentence for life without parole for committing a crime when they were less than 17 years of age. This is the failure of split sentencing where the legal rights of juvenile were not ensured . They are serving for life without parole that is unconstitutional as per US law.
