Communication is the very basis of all organisations. It is pervasive in nature. It is required at every level and at all types of organisation whether government, private, ngo's etc.
As an employee it is very important to communicate effectively with one's boss. There are various rules which one should follow while communicating with the boss. Some are:
To have an effective communication i always follow a facts and figure approach. Trust me it is very effective. One should avoid communicating in paragraphs because it is monotonous to read a whole paragraph, open for many interpretations and is not catchy. I always speak in figures because they are more easy to understand, eye-catching, clear and ofcourse not monotonous to read. It directly speaks about your efforts.
For example : if wey say our company had few sales in the previous quarter but due to this policy our sales has increased. Increased to how much? How many sales we had in the previous quarter? Although the paragraph was intended to be informative but it left many questions in the mind of the boss. Instead of following that approach one should speak in figures for example We had 3lakh sales and it has increased to 8lakh . This is small, easy to digest and gives the account of the success of a particular effort or plan.
Besides speaking in figures, I always think ahead. Working is like a game of chess. One should always plan the next move. Always convey your anticipated results to your boss and future course of action!
