Answer #1

The book of James tries to hold our hands and makes us to walk through the practice of living the faith in Christian. Book of James is a practical book encouraging and urging us towards maturity and holiness. James brings out a perspective that we must trust God and that we must work for the benefit of others. The book gives a sense that we must “become doers of God’s word”. Putting god’s word into practice in some manner can mean “applying truth to lies”.

The book of James consistently focuses on encouraging “God’s people to act like God’s people and not otherwise”. For James, real religion is putting the words of God into practice. For him a man’s temper is not what will help him in achieving God’s true goodness.

James encourage us to look into the mirror of God’s word, to remember them and ultimately doing what it says. Jesus also emphasized that believing in God actually requires putting his word into practice, which meant doing the will of God.

The book of James puts forward that do not merely listen to the word of god, instead do what it says. Stating an example, that listening to the word and not doing what it says is just like looking yourself in the mirror and afterwards forgetting what you look like. And a person who not only listens but also do what he heard, will be blessed in what he does. And such a person who puts the law of God into practice wins true happiness.

A person who says he is religious or appears to be religious but cannot control his tongue, deceives himself and this religion of his becomes useless. Therefore, what is meant here is that, a person should be quick to listen but should be slow to use his tongue, and also slow to lose temper. This is why putting God’s word into practice is emphasized in the book of James and also this is the reason why it is important.
