Do you think there are employees that may take advantage of compassionate leaders/managers?
If the managers or leaders are too compassionate, the possibility of been taken an undue advantage from them, would be high. Although compassionate leaders are always preferable in the modern era, strictly adapting such a compassionate leadership style may not be recommendable. For example, compassionate leaders may not do much good when the decision-making process is crucial and lacks time for implementation. Like in the case of a group where the leader is working with diverse members and if there is a call for Organizational change, then such a group being culturally diverse as well, there could be a possible experience of various conflicts, especially initially. Therefore, in order to bring about an innovative change in an activity and to achieve the goals, the most effective leader would that be an Autocratic one, though only momentary, until the activities are regularized. Actually, Compassionate leadership style may simply not help the group arrive at a consensus at the time of exigencies. Compassionate leaders unknowingly establish a sense of leniency yet responsibility upon the employees. So in long-term, it may certainly be more enduring in nature but if the degree is not controlled well, the employees make take an advantage of the same.
