HRM is becoming more strategic. With time more and more companies are including HR leaders on the board of directors. According to a report of CRANET/SHRM/CIHRS in 2014/2015 which includes the survey of nearly 700 companies with more than 200 employees, at least 70% of the respondents said that HR is included on the board of directors. This was 41% in 2004 and 63% in 2009. In addition two thirds of the respondents agreed to having a written HR strategy. and HR is being more involved in policy decisions like setting salaries and benefits. Performance appraisals are being used by the companies as an effective strategy for talent management within the company.
