The method of leather production is divided into three sub-processes: preparatory, tanning and crusting. Such subprocesses should be performed by all genuine leathers. Preservation: Once the animal is killed, the skin is preserved by drying, salting or freezing to survive the trip to the tannery.

Tanning: At this stage, the skins absorb the tannins (chemicals) to make them into the leather.

Withering: Any residual water is squeezed through metal rolls from the wet skins.
