A company especially a start-up company could offer its innovative products to its customers either directly or indirectly. The direct way of marketing is one in which the company offers its products directly to the customers without depending on intermediaries in the market, but in the case of the indirect way the customers are getting the products of the company through the intermediaries in the market. There are many forces that tend to lead the company to mаrket its product though chаnnel intеrmediaries rather than the direct offering. The first reason behind this is the presence of an efficient and established distribution logistics of the intermediary, the start-up could be benefitted from this. Secondly, the existing intermediaries in the market would have greater expertise in marketing products well so that the start could depend on them to reach more customers. Along with that, the start-up could share their burden of marketing the products with the channel intermediaries, it saves a lot of time for the start-up company and they could focus on the improvement of the product. It also will be helpful in delivering the products faster to the targetted category of customers. Further, the start-up could get better customer feedback if we sell products through chаnnel intеrmediaries and it helps the start-up to improve its products further. Sometimes the company may approach the customers directly. If a product is truly unique and no close substitute products there, then start-up could think of offering the product directly to the final customers. The product must be a highly demanded one too. The company's financial strength is also a criterion in this regard.

Problem VII: A monopolist can produce two slightly different versions (qualities) of a product. There are two types of customers on the market: high types with valuations 250, and 150 respectively for the high and low quality, and low types with valuations 100, respectively 50 for the high and low quality. Assume there is only one consumer of each type. What is the optimal pricing strategy for the monopolist? Price discrimination or just offering a single quality and price? Assume...

In the following problem, check that it is appropriate to use the normal approximation to the binomial. Then use the normal distribution to estimate the requested probabilities. Do you take the free samples offered in supermarkets? About 64% of all customers will take free samples. Furthermore, of those who take the free samples, about 37% will buy what they have sampled. Suppose you set up a counter in a supermarket offering free samples of a new product. The day you...

APPMaster produced and test marketed a digital product that is particularly appealing to millennials. The variable cost per unit is $5.40. Test markets research predicts that global monthly sales will be 17,000 downloads (sales) at $10 and 9,160 at $14. The elasticity of demand was found to be constant( i.e. curvilinear rather than linear). Suppose APP Master launches a new promotional campaign that reduces target customers sensitivity to price and the elasticity of demand falls by 20% from what you...
