b) You are new manager at an international company.
Two of the workers in your reporting are highly experienced while
other five are fresh graduates.
Question: Does your leadership style matters for those two who are
highly experienced? Why or why not? Justify your
choice
Yes, my leadership style matters for those who are highly experienced. I think so because the workers always need a good leader who can guide, motivate and support them. The workers here are experienced. It means they know how to carry out the regular activities at work. They are well aware of the different situations and how to tackle them. They might be efficient at their work but still they would require a good leader. The kind of leadership style I adopt would affect them because it will affect their way of working, reporting and involvement in decision making. If I choose to be an autocratic leader, they will have to obey my orders and they will not get a chance to get involved in the decision-making process. They might have got the employee participation opportunity earlier but with my style of leadership, it would get changed and they might feel demotivated. This demotivation can affect their performance at work. It can be the other way as well. The workers might have been working under an autocratic leader for a long period and gained experience on how to work under strict guidance of the leader. Now, if I choose free-rein leadership and allow them to take all the decisions, it might turn out to be a difficult task for them. Although they have the experience but that experience did not teach them how to take initiative and how to take decisions. They might not feel confident and it may affect their performance negatively.
Thus, the kind of leadership style I adopt would matter to the experienced workers as well because their experience might be different under a different kind of leadership.
