Green HR practices in a company

Align HR policies and goals with the environmental and sustainability goals of the company.

Start the office activities early. This will help the company in saving power thereby making it greener. Further, the employees will be free from peak time traffic which will lead to a better morale throughout the day.

Encourage the employees to go paperless and to use double side printing if going paperless is not possible. This will not only reduce paper costs, but also make the company environment friendly.

Green buildings is a fantastic idea for any company aiming to become more environment friendly. Shifting to a Green office building will save electricity, reduce water usage, reduce wastage and will reduce the operation costs of the company.

Wastes produced because of the activities of the company must be recycled.

Teleconferencing must be encouraged instead of business travel. This will save travel costs of the company while making it environmentally friendly in its operations.

The employees must be encouraged to use car sharing or public transport instead of using their individual vehicles. The company must start a car-pool program if possible.

Usage of Energy efficient equipment will lead to reduction in electricity costs and make the company greener.

Employees can be encouraged to participate in CSR activies of the company like planting trees and cleaning the premises.

Lastly, being environment friendly must become a part and parcel of the culture of the company and employees must be trained and encouraged to become more environmental friendly in their daily activities.
