Do you think it is ever acceptable for a company to release consumers’ information? Why or why not?
A consumer’s information reflects a lot about a consumer’s purchase behavior, preferences, frequency of purchase, etc. Not all the consumers may be comfortable getting this information shared to a third party. I think it shall be only acceptable for a Company to release Consumer’s information when they already sought due permission from the Consumers, to release the same. Moreover, the Consumers need to be also informed precisely, what information has the Company exactly collected and to what extent would this information be shared with others. Let the Consumers be given an opportunity to adjudge if such a personal information poses any threat or concern to them and accordingly, grant the permission for its release. Therefore, I think unless the Consumers are aware of such an information getting released, this act should be rather not acceptable.
