Treating people differently on the basis of their gender, race or religion is considered as a social evil. It is counted as racism or sexism(treating people differently on the basis of their race or sex).

Also it leads to a feeling of inadequacy, alienation and a loss of a sense of belonging among the individuals treated differently. Therefore under all circumstances this should be avoided.

Yes, it's important to further multiculturalism and diversity. Multiculturalism can be defined as the phenomenon of different cultures coexisting together in the same society. Multiculturalism and diversity paves way for tolerance and respect for other cultures. Thus biases and prejudice lbs are reduced as people are exposed to various cultures. Also learning and exchange of ideas takes place.
