The basic differences between malnutrition associated with chronic disease and malnutrition associated with acute illness and inflammation are-
a- Acute will not be as specific as chronic.
b- Acute's reaction last for few days while chronic reaction lasts for month and years.
c- Acute will involve immune cells like histiocytes, mast cells etc while Chronic will involve immune cells likes lymphocytes, neutrophils etc.
d- Chronic does not have any cardinal sign whereas Acute does have a cardinal sign.
e- Chronic only respond to the infection that can't be overcome for long period of time whereas Acute respond to the infection that can be overcome for long period of time.
