Answer #1
  • The term 'euthanasia' comes from a Greek word that means 'good death.'
  • Hippocratic Oath (which doctors take) states that- 'I will give no deadly medicine to anyone if asked, nor suggest any such counsel' but euthanasia can be performed by doctors ethically just like abortion.
  • There are 5 types of euthanasia:
  1. Voluntary- When a competent person makes a request.
  2. Involuntary- Without the person's knowledge/consent.
  3. Active- Ending a person's life with the help of drugs, by oneself or with the help of doctors.
  4. Passive- Ending a person's life by not taking necessary actions like food, water, etc.
  5. Involuntary- Ending a person's life against his/her will.
  • Euthanasia is mostly administered by giving lethal doses of drugs.
