Mercy killing or euthanasia involves a critical health care or public health issue as it is a form of physician assisted suicide that is deemed beneficial to the patient who is suffering. When the patient is in excruciating, persistent, insufferable pain; it is a method or procedure that will end the pain but result in death. In most cases euthanasia is carried out because the person asks to die, but there are cases where a person can't make such a request and in such cases mercy death becomes controversial as it may be termed murder as it may involve the administering of a lethal injection, or by not doing something necessary to keep the person alive such as for example failing to keep their feeding tube going.
