Nitrous oxide in labor

How it works and describe what it is

Answer #1

Nitrous oxide is a medical drug approach during labor. It is used for pain management during labor. It is a mixture of nitrous oxide,N2O and oxygen. It is called as laughing gas and is commonly used in dental procedures. It reaches the whole body, so it is systemic drug.it is also considered as an inhalant. It helps to manage throughout the whole body without causing a total loss of feeling or any lose of muscle movement. It is a tasteless or odourless gas.

In labor, for maximum pain management, the patient should be instructed to start inhaling 30 to 45 seconds before the contraction begins. This will help the patient because when the pain reaches the topmost , the drug also reaches it's high level which helps in reducing the contraction. The oxygen level should be monitored continuously .

Silane (SiH4), phosphorus trichloride (PCl3), and nitrous oxide (N2O) melt at −185°C, −112°C, and −91°C, respectively. What does this suggest about the polar character and intermolecular attractions of the three compounds? As the melting points increase from −185°C (silane) to −91°C (nitrous oxide), the molecules become  ---Select--- more less polar and the intermolecular attractions  ---Select--- weaken strengthen . †
