how a normal PaO2 of 95 mmHg could still be associated with a severe tissue oxygenation deficit

Answer #1

Answer :

◆ As given in the question PaO2 is 95 mmHg, it is the level of oxygen in the blood not in the body tissues.

◆ Level of oxygen in the blood and body tissues is opposite things.

◆ Sometimes oxygen level in the blood can be normal but the supply blood to the body tissues can be low due to interruption or obstruction due to several reasons such as cerebrovascular accident, increased intracranial pressure, gangrene, arterial embolism, air embolism etc.

Due to above conditions the proper amount of oxygen will not reach to the body tissues that will lead to severe tissue oxygenation deficit even if PaO2 level is 95 mmHg.

These are some possible reasons of severe tissue oxygenation deficit.
