In my point of view, although Deming is right in his view, it doesn’t hold much water in this competitive world. All the companies in the world has got a performance appraisal system that compares everyone’s performance with each other. This performance rating is also not done strictly because there is lots of partiality and favouritism shown during the ratings. Managers, if they like someone, even if they don’t work sincerely, will rate them high. On the other hand, even if someone who works hard but if the manger doesn’t like one, will be rated negative thus bringing huge psychological stress on them. It also creates tension among the employers because they can’t see someone who does the same work, in the same way rated high and get a promotion, while they are not thus creating enmity among employees.
