Why was NCCI program developed, and how does it affect the provider's coding?

NCCI - National Correct Coding Initiative . It was developed by the agent to establish a uniform coding system inbetween the medical professionals and also helpful for the medical insurance company . Advantages of this coding system are :-

- promote correct coding

- easy way to write a big diagnosis or a procedure which require time to jode down

- less time needed

- to prevent improper payments made on the basis of incorrect coding .

It has a table that contain separate edit for physicians/ other practitioners and one for the out patient services
