Caregiver must render care and help wherever the patient is either unfit to get things done for himself or totally declines to do as such. The importance is on keeping up practical capacity the patient still has and on prevention further decay of that capacity. Caregivers should motivate and allow patients to do however much as could practically be expected for themselves.
