State the Etiology, Prognosis, and Complications for Acute stress disorder and Fractures.
Acute stress disorder: It is a mental health condition characterised by severe anxiety, dissociative symptoms that occur within a month of a traumatic event. It usually persists for a month to 3 months.
Etiology:
1.Traumatic events like threat of life due to accidents, getting a terminal diagnosis
2. Death of a loved one
3.Traumatic brain injury
4.Natural disorders
5. In case of assault or abuse
Prognosis : prognosis is not good as many cases are unidentified. 50% people gets cured within 6 months.
Complications:
Post traumatic stress disorder
Fracture : Any break in the natural continuity of bone is called a fracture.
Etiology :
1. Traumatic : In case of accidents, sports injuries or due to fall from heights
2. Pathological fractures : Seen in people with osteoporosis and bone cancers etc.
3. Old age
Prognosis: prognosis is good and in 80% of individuals it cures by 3 months and the maximum time period can be 12 - 18 months
Complications :
1. Malunion : fracture doesn't heal in the normal alignment
2. Non union or delayed union
3. Avascular necrosis
4. Haemmorhage
5. Sepsis
6. Shock
7. Fat embolism
8.Compartment syndrome
9. Hemi arthrosis
