Case Scenerio: Fabio presents with a high fever greater than 101, oxygen saturation 78%, and breathing that is labored. His breathing could be heard throughout the ER. The mother states he has had a cold with some mucus in his lungs but has had few problems. The family has been sick with colds. The physical history of this patient shows a well-nourished, functioning child with no history of pulmonary issues. He has some allergies they have been controlled with over the counter anti-histamines. The child appears scared and mom is very worried.

Chest Xray has been ordered to check whether there is any haziness in the lungs or not. Usually, in pneumonia or in pneumonia like diseases such symptoms are seen. Pneumonia patients are usually transferred to an ICU for better approach and safety measures are maintained.

EENT specialist has been called to know the type of mucus produced and the location, characteristics of the mucus so as to identify whether and which organism or whether an allergy is the reason for this.
