The Community Health Data Initiative, sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, collects data on Community Health Status Indicators (CHSI) in all counties in all states across the United States. For this analysis, we will focus on the data from 2010. I have created a data set that contains the state name (State), the county name (County), the estimated percentage of people in each county who have high blood pressure (HBP), and the percent of people living below the poverty line in that county (Poverty). For these analyses, we will focus on six states: Colorado, Nebraska, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia. I have already removed all counties that did not report any information. Use your statistical knowledge to use R to answer the questions on this assignment.
1.Of all the counties in New York State, what is the
lowest percentage of people with high blood pressure? Note that I
am asking for the value, not the county name. What code did you use
to figure this out? (2 points)
2.Of all the counties in Colorado, what is the largest percentage
of people with high blood pressure? Note that I am asking for the
value, not the county name. What code did you use to figure this
out? (2 points)
High blood pressure - or high blood pressure - is a serious illness that greatly increases the risk of developing heart, brain, kidney and other diseases.
It is estimated that 1.13 billion people worldwide suffer from high blood pressure, with most of them (two-thirds) living in low- and middle-income countries.
In 2015, 1 in 4 men and 1 in 5 women had high blood pressure.
Less than 1 in 5 people with high blood pressure have the problem under control.
High blood pressure is a leading cause of premature death worldwide.
One of the global noncommunicable disease targets is to reduce the prevalence of high blood pressure by 25% by 2025 (baseline 2010)
