Methotrexate is an antimetabolite drugs which is used to treat the neoplastic diseases.It contains 4-amino-methyl pteroylglutamic acid.

The pharmacological form of this tablet form is round in shape , biconcave and yellow in colour.

It route of administration of the medication are,

  1. Oral
  2. Intra venous
  3. Intra muscular
  4. Subcutaneous

The dosage of the medicine is depends on the weight of the person in need. It can be given for 10-35mg in a week. Before the administration of this medicine the patient should be checked for any allergies or hypersensitivity.

The test dose can be given is 2.5 to 5 mg.

The contra indications of this medications are the following,

  • Pregnancy
  • Lactation
  • Patient with liver diseases
  • Renal dysfunctions
  • Hypersensitivity to this drug
  • Immuno deficiency syndrom
