Answer #1

President Barack Obama's health care reform plan became law in 2010 as the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act , more commonly known as Obamacare. His goal was to lower health care costs. He also wanted to improve the quality of life for those who couldon't set health insurance from their jobs.

The act was a major overhaul of the U.S. health care system, reducing the amount of uncompensated care the average family pays for. Obama care originally required everyone to have health insurance and offered cost assistance to those who couldn't afford a plan on their own.

The goal of president Obama's health care plan is to retain existing providers, doctors, and plans and build on the current health care system to provide accessible, affordable care for all AmericaNS. To this end, president Obama plan to establish a National Health Insurance Exchange ( NIE ) which will offer a range of private insurance options as well as a new public plan available to individuals and small businesses that is based on benefits provided to members of Congress.

The specific coverage you receive with your plan under Obamacare will vary based on the plan you choose. Coverage for medical services including preventative care, emergency care, outpatient care when you are not admitted to the hospital, hospitalization, pregnancy and newborn care, services for mental health, rehabilitative services, pediatric care, laboratory services.

Obama's eight general principles for health care reform :

Protect families

Make health coverage affordable

Aim for universality

Provide portability of coverage

Guarantee choice

Invest in prevention and wellness

Improve patient safety and quality

Maintain long term sustainability

Obama FY 2010 budget allocated $ 879 billion for the department of health and human services, including $ 758.9 billion for the Medicare and Medicaid programs. The Obama budget sets aside a reserve fund of more than $ 630 billion over 10 years for financing reforms to health care system.
