Referent	The sender (nurse) chooses the message to communicate within a context i.e. conversation about pain of the client.
Sender - person who sends the message	Nurse is the sender. Nurse asking a client about any pain from her knee incision this morning
Channels for communication- means used to exchange / transmit the message	The client used oral means of communication after hearing the question from the nurse.
Receiver - individual to whom the message is directed.	Receiver is the client. The client reply the question of sender (the nurse) by saying she does not have pain on knee.

Feedback- the final link in the chain of the communication process.	The sender (nurse) confirms the correct interpretation of message by the receiver (client).
