Wound is the break or disruption in the skin and underlying tissues due to injury. Wound care with involves following principles :

1. stopping the blood loss from the wound 2. cleaning the wound with disinfectant, irrigating and debridement of the wound

3. administration of analgesic and antibiotic

4. closure of wound through suture, bandages or adhesive tapes

5. appropriate dressing the wound with non adherent layer placed over the wound followed by absorbent layer and secured by gaige tape.

6. follow up and nursing teachings such as preventing wound infection, keeping blood sugar levels in control promote healing and avoid wetting the wound.
