Ascariasis
Ascariasis is an infection of the gastrointestinal system. The causative agent is Ascaris lumbricoides. The mode of transmission of the infection is by ingestion of food and water contaminated with eggs of the acaris. The common name of Ascaris lumbricoids is Round worm.
The life cycle starts by ingestion of eggs through contaminated Food and water. . In the intestine egg hatches into the larvae and then reaches the lung .From lungs it migrate to the trachea then to esophagus and then again goes to small intestine and large intestine. The adult worm lays eggs and are passed out through faeces. Then the cycle repeats.
The main symtom of ascariasis are abdominal pain, occasional loose stools, anemia and tiredness, intestinal obstruction causing severe abdominal pain and vomiting.
