• Reason for eye swelling.

When tissues, muscles surrounding the eye and supports upper eyelid become weak the fats get remove from the upper eyelid and accumulated at lower eyelid, so when any drug is instilled with 2% sterile water, water get trapped at lower eyelid and eye swelling occurs.

OR

Patient may has allergy for that drug. So, eye swelling occurs due to inflammation of blood vessels around eyes.

• Treatment.

1) Salt restricted diet should be provided.

2)Cold compression should be given.

3) Increase water intake.

4) Stop the instillation.

5) Corticosteroids can be used to reduce inflammation.

6) Antiinflammatory medications.

7) Antihistamines drug to prevent allergy.
