Insuline glargine is also known as a brand name Lantus and comes in subcutaneous injection dosage. It is most commonly use for diabetes and is usually injected below the skin once a day. Usual side effect includes change in blood pressure, swelling bladder infection, cough, limb and back pain and diarrhea. One advantage of taking glargine lantus is that it helps in improving the blood sugar level in type 1 and type 2 diabetes. It also helps in reducing fasting blood sugar levels by 20 to 23 mg/dL in type 1 diabetic patients and can significantly reduce the fasting blood sugar levels by almost 49 mg/dL in type 2 diabetic adults. They also comes in prefilled SoloStar pen which are really easy to use by the patient themselves. They are a good option for all day sugar control and customized regimen can be tailored according to the needs. They are also find effective against different liver and kidney problems.

Just like glargine lantus, humalog are most commonly used for diabetes and are injected into the fatty part of the skin before or after a meal.
