2. What is the preferred fit for a rotating inner ring of a rolling bearing and a shaft? How about the stationary outer ring and the housing? How the two fits are different? (2 points)

The fit between the rotating inner ring of a rolling bearing and a shaft is INTERFERENCE FIT.

The fit between the stationary outer ring and the housing is a CLEARANCE FIT.

The difference between these two are., In clearance fit the shaft dia is less than the hole dia. The shaft gets into the hole smoothly with some clearance. Whereas in interferance fit, the shaft dia is slightly larger than the hole dia, so there is negative clearance. It is like a press fit or tight fit.
