A wind power system rated at 800 kW with mean annual wind speed of 7 m/se. The
capital investment cost is $500,000 with additional installation, infrastructure and
financing at 30% of the capital cost. The operation and maintenance, insurance, and land
lease is at 5% of capital cost. The interest rate is at 4%. Assume the total annual energy
product is 980,000 KWH, determine the power generation cost of a 10 years repayment
and 20 years repayment. Assume the energy can be sold to the grid of a local utility
company at $0.08/KWH, what will be the simple payback years of the system?
