YOUR TASK #1
1. You want to put tape on the ground to mark
the lines for a volleyball court. Describe the
most efficient way to make sure that the
opposite sides of the court are parallel?
Support your answer with a diagram.
YOUR TASK #2
2. Describe a second way to make sure
that the opposite sides are parallel. Why
is your first method more efficient than
the second?
The playing court is a rectangle that measures 18 m x 9 m. You need to be sure that there are 4 right angles, so you need a protractor or similar device. Start with one 9m strip. Lay out the 2, 18m strips, being sure they form right angles with the 9m. Lay out the second 9m strip. hence opposite sides are parallel
In second way consider 1 set of opposite sides are parallel side and measure the angles of other two sides by protector since the other two sides are equal therefore angle between them is 90 degree. therefore task 1 is better then task 2 because in task 2 we are measuring angles.
