Has DB been fined or found guilty of corruption since early 2017 when it paid the $7.2 billion fine? What accounts for its actions, according to the reputable business press (e.g., Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, New York Times)?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Yes, DB (Deutsche Bank) has been found guilty of corruption since early 2017 when it paid the $7.2 billion fine. In fact while settling the charges for $7.2 billion the bank accepted corruption charges against it and its involvement in the subprime mortgage business in USA before the financial meltdown of 2008.

According to reputable business press like CNN and Bloomberg the actions of DB involved selling toxic mortgage-backed securities for several years before the financial meltdown of 2008. DB was guilty of misleading investors and more importantly contributed directly to a financial crisis that was international in scale.
