Homework Answers

Answer #1

A shared value analysis is the analysis of the surrounding or the social issues that can help to incerase the revenue or reduce cost. It is conducted so that social issue can be taken care but can also subsequently help in increasing the revenue or reducing the costs. Whereas a CSR analysis is done to given return to the surroundng from where revenus has been generated. There should not be a direct connection between company's operations and CSR activities. So, shared value analysis should be done to identify the social issue so that earings potentials can be improved and CSR is done primarly to help care of social issues that does not have a direct link between company activities and CSR activities.

Due to overly reliance on non-biodegradable plastic, abundance of plastic waste has led to waste management issues. Malaysia, one of the top producers of palm oil, is investigating the feasibility to convert empty fruit bunch (EFB) (waste from palm oil production) to bioplastic. One of the potential bioplastic from EFB is poly(levulinic acid–pentaerythritol) (PLA-PE). PLA-PE has shown promises as an alternative to replace conventional plastic due to its mechanical strength and moldability. PLA-PE is produced by the reaction of levulinic...

companies have strive to enhance the production effectiveness. Some companies have switched from a “management by exception” philosophy to a “continuous improvement” viewpoint. The change is subtle, but significant. Continuous improvement focuses on comparing actual performance to the ideal (i.e., perfection). Consequently, all variances are negative (how can you do better than perfect?). The largest variances indicate the areas with the greatest amount of “waste,” and, correspondingly, the greatest opportunity for improving the bottom line. What are the advantages and...
