Using a piezoelectric sensor, I can have an LED flash when applying pressure to the sensor. What's the element that I can add to make sure the LED is providing light? only one element...
can i add a transistor to amplify the voltage input and have the LED light ( not only flash )?? ( no capacitor should be used ) only transistor. please draw a circuit.
The output voltage of the piezoelectric transducer is generally few millivolts to few hundred millivolts and this voltage is AC (Alternating current) voltage so this voltage cannot be used to light an LED. You need to amplify this voltage. To amplify your signal you can use transistor or op-amp ( operational amplifier). But remember that these elements require dc bias voltage to amplify the signal so if you are designing an energy harvesting circuit then there is no meaning of using external sources but if you are not designing an energy harvesting circuit then you can use transistor or op-amp to amplify your signal.
Below is the circuit diagram to use transistor to amplify the output signal of the piezoelectric transducer.
