In the world, about 73million people are looking for work but inspite of existing vacancies , the people are still unemployed .In MAY 2015,there were 5 million vacancies in the US but 8 million people were looking for jobs.Even though universities are producing qualified graduates, employers are of the opinion that there are dearth of skilled workers. , For employers a college degree is not the only criteria for employment.Demand for STEM (science, technology, engineering and Mathematics )is growing in today's technology driven nations.Four qualities ie communication, creativity, collaboration and critical thinking are much sought by employers these days.As we move towards the time when machines do most of the work, we need 'creative entrepreneurs'who can solve all challenges.50% of employers are of the opinion that higher education is not equipping people for the job market. We need to know who is responsible for the skill mismatch, the educators , the employers or the students. We need to know that these 3 are not on the same line.So there is a urgent need to eliminate the gap that exist between the three.Leraners should get proper information about the education they get and what is actually needed in the job's market. It is necessary to make learners immerse in the real world projects which will help them to comprehend their future career options. So before redesigning a new curriculum and before taking the decision that universities and programs can only solve the real needs of the job market,it is necessary to eliminate the communication gap between educators, learners and employers. This will solve the skills gap .So bridging communication gap will help in solving the skills gap.

Half of Americans say that the main purpose of college education should be to teach specific knowledge and skills required in the  workplace while many believe that college education should be to help students develop personally as well as intellectually while some are of the opinion that all these traits in an individual who has college education is equally important. Thus  Americans have mixed opinions about college education preparing individuals for better paying jobs. Americans feel that academic grades reflect how much a person has studied but their intelligence reflect their ability to learn ,reason and think logically and critically which in turn enhance their performance.
