The ford developed the pinto in 1968. The company expected that the size of the car and price are enough to compete with German and Japanese competition. The cost of the pinto is less than $2000. At the time of testing the gas tank in the car was a risk for the fire hazardous. To make safety for the car is not a harmful activity of the ford and it takes only $5 to $8. But the manufacturer is not ready to improve the safety packages of the car. And finally, it leads to the death of 75 to 400 people.
