Quartile is used to calculate the values or observations above or below the mean by dividing the entire observations in to 4 groups. It is cuddly used to calculate interquartile range which measures the variability of the median... In order to understand quratile, we should understand median as a measure of central tendency... Median is the middle value or point of the observations or data set which lies in between above and below Centro value.

Quartile is divided in to four groups

Q1...Q2...Q3...Q4

Q1 is the first quartile in the data set. It is calculated as the average of the middle value in the given set... For example

we consider the following data set

1,2,3,4,5,6

Q1= 3+4/2 = 3.5

In order to find out inter quartile range we need to calculate the difference between Q3 - Q1.
