How can farmers markets decrease obesity prevalence?

How can farmers markets decrease obesity prevalence?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

A farmers market is a market in which consumers can purchase fresh farm produces, such as fruits and vegetables. Such a market can decrease obesity prevalence in a significant way. Various researchers have indicated that inadequate consumption of fruits and vegetables is a major reason behind the rising cases of obesity. Consumption of adequate amount of fruits and vegetable can help in maintaining weight, having a healthy diet and prevent obesity. A major reason behind the low consumption of fruits and vegetables is constraints in availability of fresh fruits and vegetables locally and lack of affordability. The farmers market can increase the availability of fresh fruits and vegetables locally and increase the affordability of the same through a lower price. This can increase the consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables and decrease the prevalence of obesity.
