Are gratuities for police officers acceptable? Should there be a limit on the amount of the gratuities for police officers much like “tipping” at a restaurant? Do you believe that the “slippery slope” a real concern?

Answer #1

No, I do not think gratuities is acceptable for police officers. In this case, gratuity means tip or bribe to the police officer. Tipping is not a good response towards the work of a police officer as he is an officer and not a waiter or something to offer a tip. Offering bribe to a police officer is illegal so it is not acceptable as well. The police officer is the highly respectable job and these kinds of things. The slippery slope is a real concern because some police officers accept a bribe and ignore the illegal things of society due to which they become a part of the bad or disastrous thing due to their greed.
