Public police agencies are created by political jurisdictions. Private police companies are created by an individual or a group of people. The biggest difference between the two is that public police agencies are authorized to make arrests, incarcerate people and refer them to the court system. In some cases the private police can detain a person, but not much more than that. If the public and private police are to work together effectively there must be a sound understanding of the capabilities and limitations of each. Based on your research answer the following questions: Using information from this learning plan and your own research, answer one of the questions below. • What concerns do you think citizens in the community might have about police partnering with private security forces? • Describe how the public police could best partner with the private police to accomplish their goals. How should the duties be split up? How should such a partnership be run and organized? • What differences, if any, do you think should always remain between the public and private police? Why? Question from Passage: Based on your research answer the following questions: Using information from this learning plan and your own research, answer one of the questions:

Describe how the public police could best partner with the private police to accomplish their goals. How should the duties be split up? How should such a partnership be run and organized?

Answer: The public police can effectively partner with the private police, only if they understand that although the organizations to which belong are different, the goal is the same. To bear an effective partnership, both should have a thorough understanding of the capabilities and the limitations, of each other.

The duties can be split up and run using the following startegy: As the private police only has right to detain a person, they can take care of the petty crimes that happen in the area. In addition to this, they can take care of cases like small robbery, street fight, eve teasing, etc. If the suspect has committed a greater crime, the private police can detain the subject, and later hand over them to the public police.

Since the public police has greater rights like to make arrests, incarcerate people and refer them to the court system, they must look into cases that require greater attention, like murder cases, rape cases, drug smuggling, etc. In this way, the public police can only concentrate to resolve the much serious crimes, more quickly.

Using this startegy, the law system will be able to function more effectively, speedily and will lead to higher productivity in the overall legal system. This will also effectively reduce the crime rates.
