Is it better to have internal or external board members? Why or why not

Homework Answers

Answer #1

It is always better to have both but the main advantage will be of having external board members because

This external board members will bring out potential competitive advantage which the internal board members always over look

As they are from out side the company who is a non executive board of director they always sound challenging and address new issues which will help for the development of the company.

They always assist people and they are approachable by the staff which will lead to more interaction.

They will try to understand the firm from outside perspective rather than inside.

They identify new resources and oppurtunities to the company and they try to create oppurtunities to the company.
