Health Care Reform (why spending more will get you less)! Are all citizens entitled to affordable health care or only those that have employer sponsored or wealthy enough to afford it? Should health care be provided by the government or privatized? What are the economic pros and cons with both?
==============
Meaning of Health Care: In simple words, it is providing basic medical facilities to individuals or community.
-Why Spending more will get you less: According to my opinion, spending more will always gives less results because all health care schemes or providing basic medical facilities should be focused on that section of people who are unable to spend on their own medical treatments.
Only spending on health care schemes will not give desired results because, government need to ensure whether money provided for different schemes under health care is actually benefiting the end users or not. Therefore, it is important that if we are allocating money for different schemes for health care, then there has to be proper "monitoring" for the same to check whether it is actually benefiting the individuals or not, Since it is actually " tax payers" money which state is allocating for different schemes to benefit or provide basic facilities to those people who are in need of it. Therefore, tax payers should not be wasted.
- Affordable Health care: According to my opinion, all individuals who are unable to afford the expenses for medical treatment should come under affordable health care. The reason being, the rich section always have access to better medical facilities and they don't as such require support of state to meet there medical expenses. This will also help the state to reduce the gap between rich and poor in terms of accessing to better medical facilities, since a state will become developed only when all section of societies have equal access to all resources.
This will also help state to allocate money, resources as per actual need of people who are really in need. Since "State" also has limited money and resources to be allocated among different sectors for economic development of State.
Health Care by Government or privatized: I think health care should not be completely privatized. The reason being still many section of people doesn't have access to basic medical facilities and if in this situation if it gets privatized then it will be very difficult for poor section of people to get access to even basic medical facilities which is right of every citizen in state.
Economic Pros and Cons:
Economic pros of health care:
- It lowers health costs for an economy Government controls price of medication and medical services through regulation.
- It forces doctors and hospitals to provide same standard of treatment at low cost. In technologically and competitive countries like United States,health care providers focus on new technology and offers expensive medical services. It leads to higher costs.
Economic Cons:
- It forces healthy and wealthy people to pay for others medical care.
- Without financial incentive, people may not be as careful with their health.
- Most Universal health systems report long wait times for elective purpose.
Conclusion: I will conclude by saying that, health care reforms should be implemented and changed from time to time in such a manner so that it provides to access to specially those section of people who actually requires better medical facilities since they are unable to afford it on their own.
